The route, stop by stop

You depart from Paris Gare du Nord, Europe's busiest international station. The high-speed train accelerates north through the flat plains of northern France and crosses into Belgium, calling at Brussels-Midi — the EU capital's main international hub.

From Brussels the train enters the Netherlands, stopping at Rotterdam Centraal before the flat, water-laced Dutch landscape signals the final approach. Arrival is at Amsterdam Centraal, the city's grand red-brick station right on the edge of the canal ring — step out and you're already in the city.

Journey time and schedule

The fastest direct Eurostar services cover the route in 3 hours 20 minutes. There are typically 6 to 8 departures per day, spread from early morning to early evening. Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings are the busiest — and most expensive — departures.

Is it faster than flying?

For most travellers, yes. The Paris–Amsterdam flight takes about 1h 15m in the air, but add getting to Charles de Gaulle or Orly (45–60 min), check-in and security (90 min), boarding, and then the bus or train from Schiphol into Amsterdam (20 min) — and the total door-to-door time easily exceeds 4.5 hours. The train leaves from the centre of Paris and arrives in the centre of Amsterdam.
